“I Am the Authentic Chairperson”- APC Crisis Deepens as Woman Declares Herself National Chairperson

  • Hafsatu Danladi has declared herself APC national chairperson and plans to challenge the party’s current leadership in court, also seeking INEC’s intervention to withdraw recognition from the existing NWC.

A fresh leadership crisis appears to be brewing within Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), after a woman identified as Hafsatu Danladi publicly declared herself the authentic national chairperson of the party.

In a press statement released on Wednesday, Danladi challenged the legitimacy of the party’s current leadership and announced plans to seek legal redress at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

According to her, the move is aimed at restoring due process and protecting the integrity of the APC, which has recently been grappling with internal disagreements over leadership and direction.

“I hereby assert my position as the true and authentic Chairperson of the APC,” she declared, insisting that her claim is grounded in legality.

Danladi further disclosed that she would be asking the court to address what she described as an “illegitimate structure” currently overseeing the party’s affairs.

As part of her legal action, she also called for the involvement of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), seeking an order to withdraw recognition from the party’s current National Working Committee.

She specifically mentioned the NWC led by Nentawe Yilwatda, arguing that its continued recognition could undermine democratic principles within the party.

“This step is necessary to uphold the rule of law and ensure that due process is followed,” she added.
