- An elderly Nigerian man has gone viral after lamenting that 60 years of following Christianity brought him no answered prayers, sparking debate on faith and expectations.

An elderly man has stirred widespread reactions after publicly expressing frustration over his decades-long devotion to Christianity, claiming it yielded no tangible results.
The man, whose identity was not disclosed, reportedly made the emotional remarks during a community gathering, where witnesses said he broke down in tears while recounting his experience following Christianity and his belief in Jesus Christ.
“I have been following Jesus for the past 60 years and nothing, not even a single prayer of mine, has been answered. Following Jesus ruined my life,” he lamented.
He further expressed disappointment, stating that despite years of commitment to religious practices, he feels left with nothing to show for it.
“I did everything they asked us to do prayers, fasting, giving but today I have nothing to show for it. I feel abandoned and disappointed after all these years,” he added.
The man’s emotional outburst has reignited conversations around faith, expectations, and religious teachings, particularly in Nigeria where religion plays a central role in many people’s lives.
Nigerian social media personality VeryDarkMan has dismissed allegations linking him to a planned protest, stating that he has no affiliation with any political group.

In a statement shared online, he revealed that the Department of State Services (DSS) contacted him over claims that he had been contracted by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to lead a protest aimed at causing unrest in the country.
“DSS called me this morning and told me that they heard that I’ve been contracted by ADC to lead a protest, hereby causing unrest in the country. I’m not partisan and I’m not supporting ADC anywhere, I don’t care who’s there and who’s running and I’m not planning any protest. I also don’t support APC or PDP,” he said.
VeryDarkMan further clarified that he is not aligned with any political party, including the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
His statement comes amid heightened political sensitivity and speculation around protests and civic actions across the country.
