“Go and Get Yourself a Gun”- Nigerians React as Man Criticizes Government, Calls for Self-Protection

  • A viral video showing a man urging Nigerians to arm themselves due to rising insecurity has sparked mixed reactions, with some supporting his concerns and others warning against the dangers of such calls.

A man has stirred widespread reactions online after urging Nigerians to arm themselves amid rising insecurity in parts of the country.

In a viral video circulating on social media, the man criticised government officials over what he described as a failure to adequately protect lives, referencing recent attacks in Plateau State and other affected areas.

In his statement, he said:

“Nigerians, go and get yourself a gun. Forget any project or investment you want to go and make at the moment, just go and get yourselves a very big gun. As you can see, your president is no longer interested in securing your lives. He’s more interested in getting a second term in 2027. The Governor of Plateau State came to the scene in an armoured vehicle and refused to come down. What did he say? We will bury the dead. Nothing was said about justice or apprehending the perpetrators.”

He further criticised national leadership and security agencies, claiming that citizens are increasingly left to fend for themselves.

“Your Chief of Army Staff is more interested in quoting the prodigal son than apprehending the culprits. Many villages are empty, and the press is not reporting most of these things. We are on our own,” he added.

The comments come at a time when insecurity, killings, and displacement have remained key concerns across several regions, prompting renewed calls for stronger government intervention.
