- Korty highlighted the disconnect between celebrity endorsements and the struggles of ordinary citizens.

Reality TV personality Vee Iye has taken a swipe at celebrities who publicly support President Bola Tinubu.
Her comments came after podcast host Korty EO questioned why some public figures continue to back the current administration despite Nigeria’s ongoing economic difficulties and security concerns. Korty pointed out that many citizens are grappling with rising poverty and insecurity, while certain celebrities still openly align themselves with the government.
She also raised concerns about whether financial incentives might be influencing such support, especially as the country’s middle class continues to feel the strain of the situation.
Reacting, Vee acknowledged that while some celebrities may have personal interests tied to their stance, others genuinely believe the president is performing well an opinion she strongly disagrees with. She suggested that fame does not necessarily equate to sound judgment or intelligence.
According to her, some individuals backing the government may not be doing so for gain but out of genuine belief, which she finds surprising. She added that popularity should not be mistaken for wisdom.
Her remarks come amid growing public frustration with the administration led by President Tinubu, particularly as concerns over the nation’s economic and security challenges persist.
The criticism follows renewed outrage over recent violence in Jos, where suspected gunmen attacked a community in Jos North on March 29, leaving over 20 people dead and several others injured.
Several well-known figures, including Peter Okoye, Ice Prince, Mr Macaroni, and Nathaniel Bassey, have since spoken out to condemn the attack.
Meanwhile, nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest claimed the incident was intended to cast a shadow over the president’s 74th birthday.
