Vanguard on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, reported that some concerned stakeholders, the Surulere Accountability Forum, in Surulere, had rejected Elliot’s bid for a fourth term as the lawmaker representing the constituency at Lagos House of Assembly.

The stakeholders, in a statement by their spokesman, Mr Olanrewaju Badmus, said the actor’s previous three terms were characterised by dismal performance, weak policy innovation, and failure to proactively address local needs.

The spokesperson for the group accused the lawmaker of delivering few constituency projects and having limited legislative impact.

He also alleged that Elliot lacked the creativity and drive to tackle infrastructure decay, youth unemployment, and inadequate primary healthcare.

“We are not opposed to any individual on principle, but we refuse to endorse continued leadership that has not produced tangible improvements for our wards.

Three terms should have produced clear, measurable progress,” he said.

The Nollywood actor on Thursday, April 2, 2026, took to his official Instagram page to share a video highlighting several initiatives tied to his work in Surulere Constituency I after questions arose about his effectiveness during his first three terms in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

“I know propaganda and negativity sell, but somehow the truth must be told my dedication to my wonderful people in Surulere has and will always be 100,” Desmond Elliot added in a caption.
