A Nigerian lady has sparked concern online after revealing a conversation she had with a commercial bus driver who allegedly spoke about voter card manipulation ahead of the 2027 elections.
She reported that the driver told her he had just returned from a compulsory meeting organized by the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), where discussions included voter participation activities.
In a video that went viral on X (formerly Twitter), she recounted:
“I boarded a bus and the driver said he just came back from a mandatory NURTW meeting. According to him, they received a derica of rice, their voter cards were collected, and their fingerprints were taken using palm kernel seeds. He added that regardless of whether you vote, your vote is already in their control. He even claimed that students are being paid ₦500,000 to hand over their voter cards.”
The lady voiced serious concern about the alleged claims, emphasizing that such actions, if true, could compromise the integrity of the electoral process and erode public confidence in democratic institutions.
She also highlighted that many Nigerians might not fully understand the gravity of the situation, particularly with the elections still months away, stating: “We’re honestly not angry enough.”
The post drew a wide range of reactions on social media, with some users expressing fear and frustration over the claims, while others questioned the accuracy of the driver’s statements and called for a thorough investigation.
