Diamond Princess Mwenke Andrew Obi has publicly accused her husband, Tony Obi the brother of footballer Mikel Obi and members of his family of years of abuse, announcing her decision to end their marriage after nearly 20 years.
In a heartfelt video that has gone viral on social media, Diamond Princess claimed she had been trying to secure a divorce, describing her 18-year marriage as filled with suffering, humiliation, and mistreatment.
“I’ve been seeking a divorce. I can’t continue being married to Tony Obi I’ve endured hell for the last 18 years,” she said in the video. She added, “I no longer want to respond to that name,” signaling her emotional separation from both her husband and his family.
She described her husband as “an evil person” and said that she had faced constant hardship throughout her marriage. Diamond Princess also alleged that the entire Obi family had treated her unjustly, including Nigerian footballer John Michael Obi.
Recalling a recent incident, she stated, “My children and I went to offer our condolences, only for them to push us and humiliate us in a very shameful way.” She emphasized, “I haven’t done anything to deserve this treatment. The hatred they have for me is unimaginable.”
Demanding accountability, she said, “I want the whole Mikel Obi family to explain to the public what I supposedly did to deserve this abuse, insults, and domestic violence.”
Diamond Princess continued, “The humiliation has been overwhelming. I can’t handle it anymore. I want my reputation restored.” She added, “No matter how much you love a man, if his family rejects you, it’s better to walk away… I’ve experienced hell.”
She concluded with a call for justice: “I need justice. This level of insult is unbearable. It is extremely unfair.”
