A former waiter, known on TikTok as Adedamola, recently shared a memorable encounter he had with Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, the senior pastor of Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju.
In a video that quickly went viral, Adedamola revealed that he originally knew Odukoya as an actor and only later discovered that he had become a pastor.
He explained that he had never met Odukoya personally before, though he had seen him in a film. The chance to meet him came while he was working as a waiter at a restaurant a few years ago when Odukoya visited the establishment. Adedamola had the opportunity to serve him.
He fondly recalled that every time he approached Odukoya’s table, the pastor would courteously say, “Thank you, sir,” leaving a lasting impression on him. Inspired by this, Adedamola said he now makes a point of using polite phrases whenever he eats out.
The ex-waiter also spoke about the rude customers he often encountered, sharing a story of a woman who yelled at him to hurry with her food, accusing him of potentially spitting on it.
Adedamola noted that he was earning just N33,000 at the time he met Odukoya, around four years ago, and the encounter taught him an important lesson: never to look down on anyone.
He encouraged his followers to tag Pastor Jimmy Odukoya in his post as a way of expressing gratitude for the pastor’s positive influence on his life.
The post comes at a time when the cleric has faced criticism over his appearance and style as a minister.
