A Nigerian man has sparked reactions online after revealing how his close friend allegedly sabotaged his relocation plans by reporting him to the embassy.

In a post shared on X, the man explained that he had informed his friend early about his plans to relocate abroad. According to him, the friend initially appeared supportive.

“Jealousy in friendships is more common than people admit. My friend knew about my relocation plans early. He acted excited, even helped me prepare documents. My application kept getting delayed for verification issues,” he wrote.

However, he later discovered that someone had submitted an anonymous petition questioning the authenticity of his documents.

“Later I found out someone had sent an anonymous petition questioning the authenticity of my documents. The exact details mentioned… only him knew,” he added.

In a follow-up post, he explained that he eventually confronted the friend years later.

“For those asking if I confronted him, I never did. I told him after I travelled that the embassy told me someone wrote a petition during my submission and that was why it was delayed.

“He asked if they gave me a name. I said they did. He said ok. That was our last message. It’s been 4 years now.”
