Yoruba Nollywood stars have celebrated with filmmaker Sunday Esan, CEO of Okiki Films and Records International, following the unveiling of his film village in Ibadan.
The filmmaker shared the development on his Instagram page, posting photos and videos of the project. He revealed that the film village is situated on seven acres of land at Idi Ori, Onidundu, Akinyele Local Government Area.
Announcing the project, he said:
“A new chapter has begun for indigenous storytelling as Okiki unveils his Films Village — a sacred creative space rooted in African heritage and tradition.”
He described the location as a cultural hub designed to reflect African identity and traditions.
“Sitting comfortably on a vast 7 acres of land at Idi Ori, Onidundu Akinyele LGA, Ibadan. This traditional setting stands as a powerful tribute to our culture, where stories of kings, ancestors, spirits, and heritage can come alive in their purest form,” he added.
According to him, the film village goes beyond being a production site, serving as a space to preserve African history through storytelling.
“Built with the essence of African identity, the village is more than a filming location; it is a cultural sanctuary designed to preserve and project the richness of our history through film,” he said.
He further noted that the facility would support epic productions and authentic storytelling.
“OKIKI FILMS VILLAGE will serve as a home for epic productions, where filmmakers can tell authentic stories that resonate across generations.”
