A woman has sparked widespread discussion on social media after raising concerns about Nigeria’s growing population amid worsening economic conditions.

In a viral video shared online, she questioned why family planning is not taken more seriously despite the country’s high birth rate and economic challenges.

She said:

“7.7 million, that’s how many children were born in Nigeria in 2025. That’s over 16,000 births every single day, more than the entire Europe. Yet with rising hunger, poverty, unemployment and insecurity, it’s clear Nigeria still isn’t taking birth control seriously. We keep bringing children into a system that cannot properly take care of the ones already here. Until we begin to talk honestly about family planning, nothing will change.”

Her comments have triggered mixed reactions, with some Nigerians agreeing that the country’s population growth is becoming unsustainable, while others argued that family size is a personal or cultural decision.

In other news….Blessing CEO has directly responded to Verydarkman following his recent comment on her post. She addressed his statements, describing them as “very disrespectful” and emphasizing the need for boundaries.

In her message, she wrote:

“I’d like to believe that what you said in your video, about coming to Lagos and touch my b00bs was sarcasm, because it came off as very disrespectful. Statements like that are not okay and shouldn’t be made because I have a man in my life.”

She also referred to his mention of being in Lagos, offering a public and transparent meeting if needed:

“If that’s true and you need proof or clarification, we can arrange a public meeting in an open place where everything will be transparent. Any questions you have can be addressed, and any evidence or reports you need can be provided. If we proceed with that, there can also be medical professionals present to help interpret any technical details, so there’s no confusion.”

Blessing CEO made it clear her partner should remain out of the situation:

“But please, leave my partner out of this situation, he has already been through a lot.”

She concluded by expressing her fatigue while appreciating support:

“I’ve said my piece because I’m honestly exhausted. My head is already aching from all this. Thank you for your concern and empathy, I appreciate that. Let’s see how things go from here before I share more about my journey. Thank you.”
