Popular gospel singer and Nollywood soundtrack artist, Onos Brisibi, has passed away at the age of 55.

Her family confirmed her death in a statement released on Thursday, revealing that she died on March 23, 2026, after a prolonged illness.

“The Brisibi family announces with deep sorrow the passing of Esteemed Sister Onos Nancy Brisibi, who transitioned to glory on 23rd March 2026 after a protracted illness,” the statement read.

The family described her as a devoted Christian and a gifted musician who impacted many lives through her songs.

“Onos Nancy Brisibi was a devoted Christian, a gifted songstress, and a passionate praise and worship leader whose angelic voice touched many lives as she spread the gospel through music.

“She will be remembered as a beautiful, fun-loving woman with a heart of gold, whose faith, warmth, and kindness left lasting impressions on all who knew her,” the statement added.

They also noted that funeral arrangements would be announced later.

The late singer is survived by her daughter, Sarah Brisibi, her mother, siblings, and extended family members, as well as her church family at LoveWorld Ministries.

Her death has drawn reactions from the entertainment industry, with actress Stella Damasus expressing grief, saying the loss “hurts,” while broadcaster Emma Ugolee described it as “devastating.”

Born on November 20, 1970, in Delta State, Onos began her music career at a young age and later became a sought-after voice in Nollywood, featuring in films such as Domitilla, Mortal Inheritance, and Blood Money.
