Nigerian cleric David Abioye has advised individuals to stay committed to their present responsibilities, cautioning against the dangers of misusing authority and succumbing to financial pressures beyond their means.

Speaking to his congregation, the bishop emphasized the importance of discipline, contentment, and integrity in both spiritual and professional pursuits.

He noted that many people today feel compelled to take on responsibilities they are not prepared for, particularly when faced with financial expectations. According to him, this kind of pressure often results in poor decisions and mistakes that can have lasting consequences.

He also warned that the misuse of power has contributed to the downfall of many leaders, urging those in positions of authority to act with caution and accountability.

Encouraging a more grounded approach, he advised individuals to remain consistent and responsible in their current roles instead of striving to meet unrealistic demands.

In his message, the cleric contrasted those who can quickly generate large sums under pressure with those who choose to remain steady and faithful in their assignments. He stressed that not everyone needs to respond to urgent financial demands, especially when doing so could compromise their integrity or stability.

He said:

“People today, if I call them, hey, I need 100 million, number two 100 million in one week, go and look for it. They will run and look for it, but I will never.

I want to be faithful where I am. Abuse of power has destroyed many people. Abuse of power. But business world, in career and all of that, be faithful. Somebody say, may I be faithful now?”
