- A Nigerian man has accused police officers of misconduct after a robbery, alleging they demanded money, failed to assist him, and tipped off suspected robbers.
- The victim further claimed that the situation worsened when he attempted to recover one of his stolen phones using tracking technology.

A Nigerian man has raised concerns over public safety and alleged misconduct by the Nigeria Police Force after recounting his experience following a robbery incident in his neighbourhood.
The victim, who chose to remain anonymous, said his home was burgled, with valuable items including laptops and mobile phones stolen. He alleged that when he reported the case to the police, officers demanded money before taking his statement and asked him to name a suspect.
“As a Nigerian, I don’t feel safe living in this country. My house was robbed, and my laptop and phones were stolen. I reported the case to the police, but they collected money just to take my statement and even asked me to name a suspect. I mentioned my neighbour, and they went ahead to arrest him, then told him I was the one who accused him,” he said.
The victim further claimed that the situation worsened when he attempted to recover one of his stolen phones using tracking technology.
“I later tracked my phone and went back to the station, asking them to follow me to retrieve it, but they told me to ‘leave it to God.’ I had to go alone. When I got there, the robbers told me the police had already called them,” he added.
The allegations have sparked concerns about police accountability and public trust, with many Nigerians calling for reforms and improved response to crime reports.
