- She introduced herself and immediately requested spaghetti or macaroni.

A Nigerian man has sparked reactions online after sharing his experience with a neighbour who began making requests shortly after moving into his compound.
The story, posted on X (formerly Twitter) by @lizzyjollof, revealed that the neighbour knocked on his door on the very day she moved in. After introducing herself, she immediately asked if he had spaghetti or macaroni, explaining that her daughter couldn’t sleep without eating.
Recounting the moment, he said:
“I actually had spaghetti, but I told her I didn’t, because I have come to understand that it’s not every need you answer, especially when it’s a stranger.”
He explained that what started as a simple request soon became a pattern of constant borrowing, ranging from Maggi and table water to a charger, blender, and even a power bank.
According to him, things took a more serious turn when she borrowed ₦20,000 and never returned it, only to come back days later asking for another ₦30,000.
“That was where I drew the line. After that, everything in my house suddenly became ‘finished’. I would always tell her I was using my charger, my power bank, everything,” he added.
He further revealed that he later discovered she had a baby daddy who sponsors her, which made him question why she kept borrowing items.
The post has since generated mixed reactions, with many users sharing similar experiences and stressing the importance of setting boundaries early with neighbours.
Some commenters expressed surprise at how far things went, while others pointed out that being too accommodating at the beginning can sometimes encourage repeated requests.
