- Veteran Nigerian comedian Abiodun Ayoyinka, known as Papa Ajasco, recently disclosed financial struggles.
- He was seen at a public event welcoming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Lagos.
- The event took place on March 19, following the President’s return from an official visit to the UK.

Just days after revealing struggles with his finances, veteran Nigerian comedian Abiodun Ayoyinka, famously known as Papa Ajasco, was spotted at a public event.
The actor was among the dignitaries who welcomed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Lagos on Thursday, March 19, following the President’s return from an official visit to the United Kingdom.
In a video circulating online, Ayoyinka was seen as part of a cultural ensemble assembled to greet the President. During the reception, a notable interaction occurred when President Tinubu, on his way to his waiting vehicle, appeared to acknowledge the veteran comedian, sharing a brief but memorable exchange.
Earlier, Ayoyinka had opened up about the financial realities of portraying the iconic Papa Ajasco, a character that has become synonymous with Nigerian television comedy.
He revealed that his earnings have increased only slightly over the years, rising from ₦22,500 in 1997 to just ₦45,000 in recent times, despite decades of dedication to the series.
Fans were surprised by this disclosure, given the enduring popularity of the Papa Ajasco franchise. Adding to the challenges, Ayoyinka explained that the character is officially owned by Wale Adenuga, preventing him from using the name, costume, or persona for personal business ventures without authorization.
