  • The man accused the attendants of attempting to shortchange him during a petrol purchase.
  • He requested ₦20,000 worth of petrol but noticed the pump meter displayed ₦5,501 before fueling began.

A video circulating on social media shows the moment a man confronted fuel station attendants after accusing them of trying to shortchange him during a purchase.

The man explained that he asked for ₦20,000 worth of petrol but noticed that the pump meter was already displaying ₦5,501 before the dispensing process started. He immediately challenged the attendants, alleging that they neither reset the meter nor informed him about the reading before fueling began.

Unaware that they were being filmed, the attendants continued with the transaction while the customer secretly recorded the interaction using his Meta glasses. The footage later became part of the evidence he used while confronting them.

Responding to the accusation, a female attendant insisted that the meter begins from zero, stating that any previous figure would automatically reset once the nozzle is activated. However, the man countered her explanation by showing the recording, which clearly displayed the ₦5,501 reading before the pump started dispensing fuel.

Another worker backed up her colleague, maintaining that the full ₦20,000 worth of fuel had already been delivered into the vehicle. According to him, the only oversight was failing to inform the customer about the initial amount displayed when the nozzle was picked up.

Unsatisfied with their response, the man demanded that the fuel already dispensed into his car be removed. The attendants refused, arguing that the transaction had already been completed.

The disagreement grew more intense when the customer asked to speak with the station manager. After being told that the management was not available at the time, he decided to remain at the station, sitting in his car and waiting for them to arrive, insisting he would not leave until the matter was resolved.

@EkpuduS, “You guys are so emotional over everything that girl did not steal any shit immediately you pick up that nozzle that meter reset to 00.00 automatically or was she holding the nozzle in her hand when the man arrived?”

@HRH_bankeoniru, “The Mobil filling station located beside the Mobil building on Ozumba Mbadiwe Street, right next to Ligali Ayomide Street in Victoria Island, is run by criminals and big-time thieves in this business. I was a victim once. But trust me, I spotted the scam right away, i  stayed calm and said nothing while the attendant finished filling my tank. Then I pulled over, demanded to see the manager, and reported the incident. I even called the DPO at Maroko Police Station to send officers over to arrest the culprit. In the end, they refunded my money, the manager and staff apologized profusely, and the dishonest attendant was arrested. Case closed.”

@MObiokoye, “This right here is why you always insist they reset to ₦0.00 before pumping—no “I’ll adjust it” stories. If the meter starts at ₦5,501, that’s an instant overcharge and it adds up fast across customers. More people should record, ask for a receipt, and report stations that do this to regulators. Transparency shouldn’t require Meta glasses.”

@Ask_of_phizzy, “Na so them day do…if you like defend them. They all know what there doing,I had to set this guy up the second time before I caught him red handed..cos he denied the first time he did this to me…then I went back with my friends car and sat at the back seat😂😂😂.”

@_kofigaza,  “a journey of 20,000 miles don start from 5,501”

@Chiefdaddy006, “To kill corruption in this country, we must start from the grassroots. We keep blaming our government every day, but I will tell you if anyone is put in that higher seat today, they will do far worse than those currently there. Just imagine these same people in higher seats today this is exactly how they will cart away millions of naira. Thieves.”
