Popular Nigerian food influencer Tolani Tayo-Osikoya, popularly known as Diary of a Kitchen Lover, has disclosed that she has embraced Islam after being raised in a Christian household.
The culinary content creator shared the update with her followers on Instagram on March 16, 2026, posting a video where she spoke candidly about her spiritual journey.
According to her, she grew up in a Christian family but later married a Muslim man. She explained that her decision to change her faith was entirely her own, stressing that no one pressured her into it. She added that she actually accepted Islam privately nearly a decade ago.
Chef T noted that conversations around changing religion can be delicate, but she now feels comfortable enough to openly discuss the choice she made.
She also revealed that her parents supported her relationship with her Muslim husband. In addition, she said her husband’s family welcomed her warmly despite her Christian upbringing at the time.
Speaking further, the influencer explained that her path toward Islam happened gradually as she sought a deeper understanding of the faith rather than making a sudden switch.
Reflecting on Ramadan 2026, she shared that it marks the first time she is fully studying the Quran, describing the experience as meaningful and eye-opening. She said she is enjoying her spiritual growth and hopes to strengthen her practice of the five pillars of Islam, with the intention of performing Hajj someday.
Chef T concluded by stressing that beyond religious affiliation, how people treat others remains most important. She encouraged people to reflect on whether they are merely practicing religion or sincerely striving to live in a way that leads to heaven.
