A Lagos-based woman, Osarobo Odigie, has taken legal action against popular TikTok streamer Habeeb Hamzat, over alleged defamation, cyber harassment, and invasion of privacy.
In a pre-action letter dated March 10, 2026, Odigie’s legal representatives from FA Garrick & Co. accused the influencer of insulting their client and recording her without consent during a confrontation at Folixxx Lounge.
According to the letter, the incident occurred in the early hours of January 6, 2026, when Odigie visited the lounge to buy food and was standing at the cashier area.
“Our client was present at Folixxx Lounge… for the purpose of purchasing food. While standing at the counter/cashier area, our client was suddenly startled by your loud outburst directly behind her,” the lawyers stated.
The legal team claimed that Odigie moved away from the influencer because of the noise, but he allegedly confronted her and questioned why she stepped aside.
They further alleged that the streamer told her to “shut up” and began verbally insulting her when she asked him to moderate his behaviour in a public place.
According to the lawyers, the insults included Yoruba curses such as “Oloriburuku,” “Omo Ale,” and “Ashawo,” which they described as defamatory and humiliating.
The lawyers also accused the influencer of recording the incident without Odigie’s consent and posting the video on several social media platforms.
“You proceeded to escalate the situation by producing your mobile phone and using the same to record our client without her consent,” the letter stated.
They said the clip was later shared across platforms including Snapchat, WhatsApp, TikTok and Instagram, where it quickly gained attention due to the influencer’s large following.
According to the legal team, the viral video triggered thousands of comments online that repeated the alleged insults, leading to harassment and cyberbullying against their client.
“Our client has suffered significant emotional distress and has developed genuine fears for her safety,” the lawyers added.
As part of the demands, Odigie is seeking ₦395 million in damages. The amount includes ₦200 million for alleged defamatory publication, ₦100 million for emotional trauma and reputational damage, ₦75 million for distress linked to cyberbullying and threats, and ₦20 million to cover legal fees.
The lawyers also demanded that the influencer remove the video from all social media platforms and publish a public apology across his pages and in national newspapers.
They warned that failure to comply within seven days could lead to a lawsuit.
The dispute follows a widely shared confrontation between the streamer and the woman at the Lagos lounge on January 6.
Days after the incident, on January 9, Peller released a public apology video after facing criticism online, admitting that his reaction during the altercation was out of character and expressing regret over the incident.
