- Tracy Ohiri has apologised to Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, and withdrawn earlier allegations that he made sexual advances and owed her over ₦300 million.
- Her apology has sparked fresh debate online due to older videos that appear to show her making the same claims.

A woman identified as Tracy Ohiri has publicly withdrawn the allegations she previously made against Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi.
In a new video shared online, Ohiri apologised to the minister and stated that she never accused him of asking to meet her while tying a towel. Her statement comes after days of online controversy surrounding claims she had earlier made against the former governor of Ebonyi State.
However, the apology has sparked fresh reactions on social media, as earlier videos circulating online appear to show Ohiri making the same allegation she now denies.
Background of the controversy
The dispute began when Ohiri accused Umahi of making inappropriate advances toward her and claimed he owed her more than ₦300 million for campaign materials allegedly produced during his political activities.
The allegations quickly gained attention online, with social media users debating the claims and demanding clarification from both parties. The accusations also generated widespread reactions due to Umahi’s position as a senior government official.
Following the backlash and intense public discussion, Ohiri released a new video retracting the allegations and apologising to the minister.

In a recent statement, the content creator alleged that during their marriage she carried most of the financial responsibilities in the household. According to her, she rented a duplex that cost about N7.5 million per year and also invested heavily in setting up a fully equipped music studio for her then husband.
She explained that the studio, which reportedly cost millions to set up, was located downstairs in the duplex so he could conveniently work on his music. However, she claimed she later discovered that he had started selling some of the studio equipment without informing her.
Otweytwey also alleged that she frequently spent her own money to provide food for him and his friends while they stayed in the house. Despite the financial pressure, she said she continued to perform her responsibilities as a wife during the marriage.
“I used to feed him and his boys with my money. At the end of the day, I will still do my wifely duties, just because he doesn’t have much,” she said while recounting her experience.
