Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, has dismissed viral reports claiming that a woman who accused him of rape and abuse of minors had been sentenced to six years in prison.
Reports circulated on social media on Thursday, March 5, alleging that the woman had been arraigned in court and sentenced after falsely accusing the singer of rape.
Reacting to the claims, Paul Okoye described the reports as false. Taking to his Instagram Story, the singer simply wrote, “Fake news.”
The controversy is linked to a previous incident in which Paul threatened legal action against a woman who made defamatory statements about him and his former marriage.
The woman had claimed in a tweet that the singer cheated on his ex-wife, Anita Okoye, with his housemaid. At the time, Paul said he would use her as a scapegoat to discourage others from spreading false accusations.
The allegation also resurfaced during the singer’s divorce proceedings with Anita, where she reportedly accused him in court filings of having an affair with their housemaid, Florence, claiming he invited her to hotels for secret meetings.
