Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, a clergyman from Plateau State, has disclosed that he declined offers of asylum from several foreign nations amid threats to his life from Islamist extremists.

The prominent pastor, who serves as the Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, revealed that countries including Australia, Austria, and other European nations extended offers of refuge to him.

Despite the risks, Dachomo emphasized his commitment to remain in Nigeria, continuing to support persecuted Christians both in Plateau State and across the country.

Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, he explained that the offers came during a period when he was reportedly receiving daily death threats, along with indirect warnings from government authorities.

“I will not fear them; they should fear me,” the cleric stated. “I was offered asylum in Australia, Austria, and other countries, but I refused. I’m staying here. I stand with my people.”

He added that although friends, family, and fellow religious leaders encouraged him to accept the asylum offers for his safety, he has never contemplated leaving the community he serves, even as they continue to face attacks from terrorists and Fulani bandits.
