Solomon Buchi Slams Nigerians Backing Simi Over Old Tweets

  • Solomon Buchi, a Nigerian writer, criticizes supporters of singer Simi for defending her after old tweets resurfaced.
  • He believes that these defenses overlook the serious implications of her past statements.
  • Buchi argues that such reactions undermine efforts to protect children.

Nigerian writer and social commentator Solomon Buchi has criticised those defending singer Simi after her old tweets resurfaced online.

In a video posted on his Instagram page, Buchi accused Simi’s supporters of overlooking what he considers the serious implications of her past words. He argued that such reactions weaken efforts aimed at protecting children and expose what he described as gender bias in society. According to him, the situation reflects how possible harm involving boys is often treated less seriously than when girls are involved.

Buchi drew attention to a 2012 tweet in which Simi jokingly referred to a four-year-old boy’s innocent crush as sexual harassment. He maintained that her wording at the time framed the situation in sexual terms, something he found disturbing given the age difference.

He questioned how a four-year-old could sex*u@lly harass a 23-year-old woman and criticised those defending her stance.

“He’s harassing me sexually. Sorry? How does a four-year-old boy harass a 23-year-old woman se*ua@lly? And you guys are dead to your conscience, defending this that is clearly wrong. You see, one thing I hate the most is dishonesty.”

Buchi further stated that Simi could have apologised for her choice of words instead of standing by them.

“Simi could have come out and apologised and say: I am sorry the language I used was wrong. My intentions were clear. I was naive. But no, she came out and she doubled down. And you all feminist. You’re filthy, satanic, demonic feminist.”

He concluded by saying that many men have experienced abuse as minors, yet society often overlooks such cases when women are involved.
