A Nigerian man has sparked debate online after publicly declaring his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and urging citizens to remain patient despite the country’s ongoing economic challenges.
In a viral social media post, he stated that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is what Nigeria needs at this time, expressing confidence that the party will secure another term in office. He emphasized that economic improvement is possible if Nigerians continue to exercise patience.
According to him, many of Nigeria’s current difficulties stem from long-standing structural issues, including the effects of past military governments. He argued that the current administration is working to correct these problems.
The man also highlighted what he described as key achievements of the government, including granting autonomy to local governments an effort he claimed was not implemented under former President Muhammadu Buhari. He further pointed to changes in the naira’s exchange rate as a sign of progress.
His remarks quickly generated mixed reactions online. While some users agreed that patience is necessary, others argued that economic hardship remains severe and called on the government to prioritize policies that directly improve living conditions.
In other news… A lady has sparked intense conversations online after posting a video showing a Ramadan food pack she claimed was distributed by Bola Tinubu.
The relief package, packaged in a box featuring the president’s image, reportedly contained various food supplies intended to assist Muslims observing the Ramadan fast.
In the now widely shared video, the woman enthusiastically revealed the items inside the box. The package included staples such as rice, spaghetti, macaroni, cooking oil, seasoning cubes, sugar, salt, tea, and milk.
She commended the initiative, saying the support came at an appropriate time as families prepare for the fasting season. However, her excitement soon triggered mixed reactions across social media.
Some users applauded the gesture, describing it as much-needed assistance given the current surge in food prices. Others, however, criticised the move, labeling it a form of political symbolism rather than a long-term solution to economic hardship.
A number of commenters argued that such handouts highlight broader financial struggles in the country, accusing political leaders of focusing on temporary relief instead of addressing structural issues.
There were also warnings against linking welfare distributions to political allegiance, with some insisting that receiving food aid should not determine citizens’ voting decisions.
Conversely, supporters defended the initiative, stressing that charitable acts during religious periods should not be politicised. They maintained that accepting food assistance does not equate to endorsing any political figure and pointed out that similar efforts have been carried out by previous governments.
As discussions continue, the video has once again brought attention to ongoing debates surrounding poverty, governance, and the impact of relief programmes during religious seasons in Nigeria.
