In an open statement, Remi shared that while her friend still hopes to reconnect whenever Remi returns home, she no longer feels the closeness they once had. She explained that over time, their lives have diverged significantly.
Remi described her friend as married with two children from different fathers and working as a tailor, whereas she herself is unmarried and has no children. She recalled that during her last visit five years ago, the two struggled to find common ground, making it difficult to engage in meaningful conversation.
Feeling that the friendship no longer fit her life, Remi ultimately blocked her friend’s contact, saying she did not want to “pretend” to sustain a connection that she no longer values.

“My best friend in secondary school still wants me to keep visiting her whenever I go home, just like the old times. But I no longer see her as a friend, because we are way different now.
She’s married and has two kids with 2 fathers. While I am unmarried with no kids, she sews clothes but is not that skilled.
The last time I visited her was 5 years ago, and we had nothing to talk about she wanted to buy me an eggroll a girl was hawking and “minerals” I told her not to bother.
We do not have anything in common at all again.
I believe I have outgrown her and the friendship, I blocked her contact so she’ll stop reaching out to me. There’s no point pretending to be friends with her.”
