A pastor from Delta State, Elijah Oro, has been taken into custody in Bayelsa State for allegedly planning to assassinate another pastor amid conflicts over church membership and property.
The arrest was made by the SWAT team of the Bayelsa State Police Command following credible intelligence about the plot.
Authorities say Pastor Oro reportedly enlisted 21-year-old Samuel Daniel, who is linked to the notorious Greenlanders cult, to execute the planned attack. Fortunately, the scheme was uncovered before anyone was harmed, and both individuals are now under police investigation.
In a statement, DSP Musa Mohammed, the police spokesperson, said: “On January 28, 2026, at around 10:35 a.m., SWAT operatives arrested Samuel Daniel, 21, from Nembe Ogbolomabiri Community, and Pastor Elijah Oro, 59, from Ozoro Community, Delta State, in connection with an alleged plan to kill a prophet.”
DSP Mohammed also noted that Daniel was caught at the rival pastor’s location and admitted to being a member of the Greenlanders cult. Investigations are ongoing to fully understand the motive behind the alleged plot.
