A video showing the reception given to Grace Nation Church founder, Pastor Chris Okafor, has drawn massive attention on social media.
The cleric had temporarily stepped down from his pastoral duties following allegations made by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala shortly after his wedding. Ogala claimed that Pastor Okafor influenced her to leave her marriage and began a relationship with her, only to later abandon her and marry another woman. She also threatened to expose him publicly.
The actress further alleged that the pastor was involved in several illicit and fetish-related practices. In reaction to the accusations, Pastor Okafor offered an apology from the pulpit and announced that he would step aside from ministry.
Weeks later, on February 1, Pastor Okafor returned to the church. Videos from the service captured members welcoming him with flowers and placards carrying messages of support and excitement.
Some of the placards read, “The shepherd is home,” and “We love you always.” Others carried messages such as “Welcome home daddy” and “Your sheep await your blessings.”
A red carpet was rolled out at the church entrance as uniformed members lined both sides while Pastor Okafor and his wife walked in together. The couple later made a grand entrance into the church auditorium, with congregants standing around them.
An officiating minister praised Pastor Okafor while ushering him back to the pulpit. Speaking afterward, the pastor said, “We are back to do best what God ordained us to do,” as he and his wife performed a coordinated dance.
The service ended in celebration, with church members dancing joyfully and expressing happiness over his return.
