Paul Ibe, media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has blamed the lack of adequate healthcare facilities in Nigeria for the death of rising musician Ifunanya Nwangene.

According to reports from GistLover, the Abuja-based soprano singer, who performed with the Amemuso Choir, passed away on Saturday at the Federal Medical Centre in Abuja after being bitten by a snake.

In response to the tragedy, Ibe wrote on his official X account on Sunday, expressing that Nigeria had failed the young artist. He also questioned why a major public hospital in the nation’s capital did not have access to snake antivenom.

He wrote: “Fast-rising singer Ifunanya Nwangene, 26, was not killed by a snake. She was killed by Nigeria, or as is often said, Nigeria happened to her.

“To imagine that a public hospital in the Federal Capital Territory does not have snake antivenom, in a supposedly high-burden area for snakebite in Nigeria.

“Meanwhile, anti-opposition is available in great quantity.”
