Nigerian skit maker and content creator Iyo has recounted a disturbing experience involving individuals he claimed were police officers.
In a statement shared on his Instagram page, Iyo alleged that the incident occurred while he was heading to the gym. He claimed he was forcefully taken away by some men who arrived in a bus.
According to him, the individuals were dressed in police uniforms and carried weapons. Iyo further alleged that he was assaulted during the ordeal, sustaining injuries to his ribs, while his mobile phone was confiscated.
He claimed the men demanded ₦6 million and allegedly gained access to his bank accounts, draining all the funds in them. Iyo said he was later driven to another local government area, where the money was withdrawn, before he was eventually abandoned in a bushy area.
In a separate post, the content creator shared another account from someone who claimed to have experienced a similar situation. The individual alleged that ₦2 million was taken from his account and stated that there were five people inside the minibus he was forced into.
Reacting to the incidents, Iyo expressed frustration and concern, alleging that those assigned to safeguard citizens were instead responsible for abducting them.
The skit maker’s claims add to a growing list of reported encounters between celebrities and law enforcement. While some public figures have previously been invited for questioning and released, others have faced more serious situations involving temporary detention.
Just recently, Nollywood actress Angela Okorie was reportedly arrested by the police and arraigned in court, with images and details of the case later circulating online.
