A University of Lagos (UNILAG) law graduate has passed away just one day after her convocation, leaving friends and family devastated.

The sad news was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @plantcodesss.

The graduate was part of the 2023 graduating class of UNILAG. The university held its 2024/2025 convocation ceremony on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, on campus, celebrating the achievements of its graduates as they prepared to embark on new chapters in their lives.

In her post, @plantcodesss reflected on how the late graduate had been an inspiration to others, even during difficult times. She highlighted that her sister, Evidence, had always supported the graduate and had hoped for her recovery after seeing her in a challenging situation previously.

The post read:

“You did your convocation yesterday and today you’re no more. You deserve to be celebrated and you will be. My sister, Evidence was always rooting for you and after seeing you in that miserable condition the last time, I hoped you’d get better. I know you’re smiling from where you are because ‘UNILAG didn’t end you.’ You ended UNILAG, in joy.”

Following the heartbreaking announcement, friends, classmates, and alumni took to social media to share tributes and express their condolences.
