What started as a discussion online about musical legacy and comparisons between the late Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti and Ayo Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has escalated into a public feud between Wizkid and Fela’s son, Seun Kuti.
According to GistLover, tensions first emerged in early January when Seun criticized Wizkid’s fanbase, Wizkid FC, for repeatedly bringing up his late father in music debates.
The situation intensified on Tuesday, January 21, when Wizkid responded passionately on his Instagram Stories, defending his fans and taking a dig at Seun.
Seun fired back on Instagram, referencing US rapper Diddy and teasing the Nigerian singer, writing: “Free Diddy. His Lagos babe is missing him.”
Wizkid did not hold back, responding with a cheeky jab: “We all know who be Diddy babe for Naija. If na chain you want, come collect o. Make una free me, my mouth no good.”
Online influencer Tunde Ednut reacted to the back-and-forth by sharing screenshots of the exchange and posting an old video of Grammy winner Burna Boy presenting a jewelry chain to Seun Kuti, adding context to the ongoing drama.
