Mr Real Makes U-Turn, Retracts Claims Against CREAM Platform, Tenders Public Apology to D’banj

  • Rapper Mr Real has apologised to D’banj after earlier accusing him over the valuation of the CREAM platform and an alleged unpaid ₦20 million deal.
  • He admitted misinterpreting the situation and withdrew his comments following reported legal action by D’banj.

Nigerian rapper Mr Real has reversed his earlier criticism of D’banj and the singer’s CREAM (Creative Reality Entertainment Art & Music) platform, issuing a public apology.

D’banj had claimed during a November 2025 interview on The Micon Podcast that the CREAM platform was valued at $3 billion. Reacting at the time, Mr Real accused D’banj of merely “packaging” the platform and alleged that he was owed ₦20 million from an ambassadorial deal.

In a new video posted on Instagram on Monday, Mr Real admitted he misunderstood the situation and apologised for his comments. He described D’banj as a major influence in his career and expressed regret over the tone and public nature of his remarks. Mr Real said he has withdrawn his statements and will refrain from further public comments while efforts are made to resolve the issue amicably.

The apology followed reports that D’banj, through his legal team, had filed a petition against the rapper.

In other news…. Afrobeats star Oxlade has revealed that he does not smoke or use hard drugs, crediting his upbringing and religious background for his lifestyle choices. He made the disclosure during an interview with gospel singer Tim Godfrey.

The Ku Lo Sa hitmaker said he comes from a strong Christian and musically inclined family and began his music journey in the church choir. According to him, that foundation shaped his values, personality, and overall approach to music.

“I don’t smoke. I don’t take drugs. I was a choir coordinator for every age group; children’s church, teen church, the youth choir and the mass choir.

“All my life I have been in the choir. I was raised in a musically inclined family. My grandma is a deaconess and an amazing singer. My grandad used to be a multi-instrumentalist.

“My mum could dance and sing. I have a pastor in my family. My gospel music writing is actually the best. Gospel music is the best music,” he said.

The singer added, “Regardless of whichever perspective I am viewed, you should know that God is equally blessing me as much as he is blessing you. You can’t tour 40 cities with your debut album if God doesn’t want it to happen. As long as God is ordaining these steps and movements, there is really nothing for me to worry about.”
