The remains of the late content creator Esther Thomas, widely known as Sunshine, have not yet been laid to rest as her friends continue to encounter obstacles with her extended family.

In a video circulating online, Chidera Madu and other close friends recounted the difficulties they have faced.

They explained that multiple attempts to contact Sunshine’s family members were unsuccessful, noting that the family made repeated promises but did not show up to claim her body.

The friends also shared voice notes of their calls to her relatives and their reactions upon hearing about Sunshine’s passing.

It was revealed that Sunshine’s only brother is currently in prison and has granted them permission to proceed with her burial despite the absence of other family members.

In another recording, the friends stated that they chose to publicly raise funds for Sunshine’s burial because they suspected financial reasons might be why her family had not come forward.

They added that their actions have sparked online criticism, with some accusing them of exploiting Sunshine’s death for attention or personal gain.

Chidera Madu also addressed rumors that he lived with Sunshine, clarifying that they did not live together. He explained that he was only informed about her illness, as Sunshine resided in Lagos State.

Sunshine passed away a week ago due to complications following a fibroid surgery at a private hospital.
