Nigerian lawmaker Ned Nwoko has detailed the reasons behind the arrest of Izugbe Ann, best friend of his estranged wife, Regina Daniels.

Ann was reportedly arrested by police in Abuja two weeks ago and remains in custody. The arrest sparked criticism from Regina Daniels, who publicly questioned Nwoko’s actions.

In a statement shared on his social media account, the Delta North Senator claimed Ann had defamed him online, alleging he physically abused his fifth wife, Laila, while she was pregnant, leading to a miscarriage — claims Nwoko denied.

He further accused Ann of having procured an illegal abortion for Regina Daniels, alleging that she administered substances, including weed, which caused Regina to lose her unborn child during their marriage.

“She procured an illegal abortion for Regina, sourced and administered illegal substances on her,” Nwoko said, adding that Ann’s actions had serious legal and moral implications.

The lawmaker maintained that the arrest was necessary to hold Ann accountable for these alleged offenses. The matter continues to draw public attention, given the high-profile nature of the individuals involved.
