A Nigerian lady has ignited discussions on social media after making a bold claim about why some men are drawn to “independent women” in relationships.

In a video that went viral on X (formerly Twitter) and shared by @Teniola, she suggested that men’s interest in financially self-sufficient women often stems more from convenience than genuine admiration.

She explained that men may prefer women who earn their own income because it makes it easier to borrow money when needed.

As she put it:

“The reason why men want an independent woman is to borrow money from them. There’s no woman I know that hasn’t borrowed a guy money.”

Her comment quickly sparked debate online. Many women agreed with her perspective based on personal experiences, while others argued that independence should not be equated with being a source of financial support for men.

One social media user responded, “Not all men, but some definitely feel entitled to women’s money.” Another added, “Being independent doesn’t mean being a loan bank.”

The video continues to circulate widely, reigniting conversations about money, gender expectations, and modern relationship dynamics.

In other news…. A Nigerian lady has sparked widespread online reactions after sharing WhatsApp messages allegedly sent by her mother containing harsh words and curses.

The lady, identified on social media as @atouchofcee, revealed that her mother, Precious Chikodi Justice, sent messages filled with anger and threats. Screenshots shared on TikTok showed the mother claiming that no one could reverse the curses placed on her daughter except herself.

In the messages, the woman allegedly warned that her daughter would no longer succeed unless she apologized and acknowledged her. She further claimed that the daughter’s close friends and “destiny helpers” would abandon her if she failed to do so.

One of the messages read:

“U will not succeed again and nobody can reverse it except me Mrs Precious Chikodi Justice. Just watch and see. From now, all ur best friends and destiny helpers will cut off from u. Except you come and apologise and recognise me as…”

Reacting publicly, @atouchofcee shared the screenshots and expressed shock at the severity of the messages. She responded by stating:

“Who will be against me when God be for me. Oh well, unless they kill God.”

The post has since triggered intense discussions online, with many social media users expressing disbelief and concern over the nature of the messages and their impact on parent-child relationships.
