Portable’s Wife Welcomes Baby Days After Singer’s Remand in prison over a 9-count criminal charge

  • Just five days after controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, was remanded in prison over a nine-count criminal charge, his first wife, Omobewaji, has reportedly given birth.
  • Sources reveals that the news of the birth has since been conveyed to Portable in prison.

Portable’s first wife, Omobewaji, has reportedly welcomed a baby just days after the singer was remanded in prison, with the musician said to be eager to regain freedom to see his child.

Portable was arraigned on Monday, January 12, 2026, before a Federal High Court in Ogun State, where the presiding judge declined to grant him bail. The court cited the absence of the police officer the singer allegedly assaulted, who was expected to testify.

Following the ruling, Portable was ordered to be remanded in custody, while the case was adjourned to January 19, 2026, for consideration of his bail application.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that Omobewaji delivered her baby while the singer remains in detention. Sources told The Nation that the news of the birth has since been conveyed to Portable in prison.

It was gathered that the singer received the news with excitement and expressed eagerness to secure his release so he can meet his newborn child for the first time.

Portable was earlier arrested following an altercation involving one of his wives, Ashabi Simple, during which he allegedly assaulted a police officer.

In other news,….. A neighbour of the late Nollywood actress Allwell Ademola has shared a touching account of her final moments.

In an interview with actress Abiola Ayomide Adebayo, the neighbour revealed that it took more than 30 minutes for Allwell to open her door as she struggled to get dressed.

She recounted that she ended up driving Allwell to the hospital herself, as the person originally supposed to take her was too nervous to do so.

The neighbour also recalled how Allwell had once jokingly said she was lucky to have good neighbours who would always support her—words that proved true on that tragic day.

Describing the unusual situation, she explained that Allwell rarely drove herself out of the compound, but on that day, she somehow found the strength to take the wheel and rush to the hospital.

The urgency of the moment was so evident that even people around Pipeline, where Allwell lived, noticed that something was seriously wrong.

Looking back on the experience, the neighbour admitted that the reality of Allwell’s passing still feels unreal. She said seeing the actress’s personal belongings around the house makes it hard to accept that she is gone.

In her words, the neighbour explained:

“It took almost over 30 minutes. It took a long time. I had to keep saying, Actress, please open the door. Because I think it was difficult for her to put on her gown. And because, you know, she never knew it was going to result to… It was going to end that way. If not, she wouldn’t have minded us breaking the door.. She was covering herself. She wouldn’t have minded her breaking the door that day, honestly. We tried. We lifted her up. About five or six people lifted her up into the car. And I had to drive the car myself. Why? Because, you know, she jokes.

They told her one time that if anything happens, what will you do? She said, I have good neighbors, you know.

We had somebody to drive the car. The person was nervous. A man. I had to tell the person, you know, to come and open the gate. And I drove the car myself. Even faster than how I could have. I never… I don’t like driving out of the gates. But that day, I wouldn’t know where that strength came. I drove it very fast.

Even people at Pipeline, where she lives, they knew something was wrong. It was that bad. It was bad. It’s still like a dream to me, especially when I see her things around. I’ll be like, is it really true?”
