Bovi Calls Out Super Eagles Over Focus, Payments, and Social Media Distractions

  • Comedian Bovi has stirred debate after criticizing Super Eagles players over focus and commitment following Nigeria’s AFCON loss to Morocco, urging them to put national duty above distractions and delayed payments.

Nigerian comedian Bovi has sparked intense reactions online following his blunt criticism of the Super Eagles after their AFCON match against Morocco.

In a viral video circulating on social media, Bovi questioned the players’ commitment and focus, warning them not to answer the national team call-up if they are not fully prepared to sacrifice for the country.

“Don’t come to the Super Eagles if you’re not ready to give everything for the nation. If the NFF delays your payment, let it go,” he said.

Bovi also blamed distractions, particularly social media and excessive public praise, for affecting the players’ concentration. Comparing Nigeria’s approach with that of top football nations, he said: “Social media has distracted you all, and the praise got to your heads. When Argentina were preparing to play us four days before, none of their players were active on social media.”

Describing football as a unifying force that cuts across religion and background, the comedian stressed that representing Nigeria should demand discipline, unity, and sacrifice.

His comments came in the wake of the Morocco game, which left many fans dissatisfied and questioning the team’s mindset and overall dedication.

As expected, the video triggered mixed reactions online. While some agreed with Bovi’s stance, others pushed back, arguing that players deserve fair treatment.

One user wrote, “Easy to talk when you’re not the one risking injury,” while another said, “Players deserve to be paid. Patriotism doesn’t pay bills.”
