- Dele Momodu has claimed that many APC loyalists are privately unhappy with President Bola Tinubu’s administration despite their public show of support.
- Speaking during an X Space discussion, he argued that fear, loyalty, and hope of personal benefit often mask widespread dissatisfaction behind the scenes.

Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has claimed that many members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are privately dissatisfied with President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking during an X Space session titled Avrilsspace: The Electoral Mathematics for 2027 on Monday, Momodu argued that public displays of loyalty often mask deep-seated frustration.
Momodu suggested that the average Nigerian should be “worried” about the country’s current direction, claiming that even those close to the seat of power are unhappy.
“The truth is when you engage them behind the scenes, they will weep at you that they are not happy… So a lot of so-called fanatics who say ‘your mandate’… when you engage them behind the scenes, the story is different.”
Drawing a parallel to the President’s influence in Lagos, Momodu noted that public compliance is often driven by the hope of personal gain rather than genuine satisfaction.
“The same way a lot of people in Lagos will tell you that Tinubu is Alpha and Omega in Lagos, but when you engage them behind the scenes, what they tell you is different… When the leader is in power, people live on the hope that ‘something might fall in my own way’.”
