Residents of Kwali and Abaji in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) can finally breathe a sigh of relief following the arrest of a notorious cable vandal.

The suspect, believed to be the reason behind the long-term blackouts in the area, was caught in the early hours of Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

Local vigilante operatives spotted the man during a routine patrol as he was allegedly “vandalising electricity cables with the intention of carting them away.”

His arrest has brought hope to the community, which has suffered from a lack of power due to the repeated theft of electrical infrastructure.

Community sources noted that this is becoming a regular win for local security. According to residents, “two to three suspects were previously apprehended” and handed over to the police in similar cases.

The locals are hopeful that this latest arrest will finally put an end to the network of vandals targeting their power supply.
