- Minister of Works, David Umahi, has said Igbos are no longer marginalized in Nigeria, arguing that agitation for Biafra is no longer justified.
- He credited President Bola Tinubu’s administration with unprecedented inclusion of the Southeast through major federal infrastructure projects, stating that visible development has eased long-standing feelings of exclusion and reintegrated the region into the national mainstream.

Works Minister David Umahi has declared that Igbos are no longer marginalized and that calls for Biafra are unjustified. He insisted that the Southeast has achieved unprecedented national inclusion under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Umahi attributed the easing of the marginalization debate to massive infrastructure investments in the region.
Umahi argued that past administrations left many Igbos feeling excluded, which deepened separatist agitation. He maintained that this situation has changed due to visible federal presence and strategic projects.
He stated, “In the past administration, our people felt very much marginalised, and that was the reason some people were agitating for Biafra. But today, we are well integrated into the mainstream of the nation, Nigeria,”.
Key projects listed to support his position include the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway, the Owerri–Onitsha Expressway, Section 2B of the Second Niger Bridge, and a 123-kilometre road from Ndibe Beach to the Benue border.
Umahi commended President Tinubu for prioritizing the Southeast and said the region is now “comfortable” and “very happy”. He concluded by calling the current period historic, stating, “Even those that don’t want us to take our rightful position as South-East people, God has opened the time. This is our time, and this is the time that God has sent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reintegrate our people,”.
