A 17-year-old boy has recounted a harrowing encounter with policemen attached to the Special Anti-Cult Unit in Delta State.
According to him, he and his 16-year-old brother were on holiday at their uncle’s residence when officers stormed the house and accused them of being cultists. Despite their denials, the teenagers were arrested and taken into custody.
The boy alleged that they were detained and given a bail condition of ₦1 million before the officers eventually collected ₦200,000 from them to secure their release.
The incident has since sparked outrage, with many Nigerians condemning the alleged misconduct and calling for accountability within the police force. Rights advocates have also urged authorities to investigate the matter and ensure justice for the teenagers.
In other news….. A man has criticised his two-year-old daughter’s school for giving her an assignment when “she cannot even speak yet.”
In a viral video, he asked: “Why would a school give an assignment to a child who has not started talking, especially on the second day of resumption?”
He demanded a refund of his fees, declaring: “My daughter will no longer return to the school.”
Explaining why he enrolled her, he said: “I only wanted the school to help keep the child engaged so that the family could have some rest at home.”
The angry father wondered: “Who do they expect to do the assignment since my daughter clearly cannot handle it?”
He added: “It is unfair for me to work hard, earn a salary, pay school fees, and still be expected to do assignment on behalf of a two-year-old who cannot even talk yet.”
Concluding, he sent a message to the proprietor: “My daughter will not be returning, and I demand a refund of my money.”
