Veteran actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has dismissed claims of a fallout with Peter Obi, stressing his commitment to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking on Channels Television, he pledged full support for the party’s presidential candidate, whoever emerges.
“Whoever wins the election of ADC in the presidential primary, I will support,” he declared.
Kenneth Okonkwo also clarified he has no grudge against Peter Obi, noting their past collaboration during the 2023 elections under the Labour Party before moving to the ADC.
“I don’t have any personal problem with my brother Peter Obi,” he said, stressing that his decision to align with the ADC was based on principles and party loyalty rather than personal disagreements.
“And when they come into the primary, whoever wins, they will be the support base that he would have from all the zones that will help him to win the general election. Winning the primary election does not make you president. The most important thing is the general election,” Okonkwo said.
“No. No personal reason. I made it clear that the Labour Party is our base; whatever happens to that party has happened to our alliance,” the actor turned politician insisted.
“I have told you that whoever wins the ADC presidential primary, I will support. Yes, but I have told you that if the level party was the foundation of our relationship, we met each other in the Labour Party. Obi is no longer there. So going forth, there will be a new arrangement and you have the right to decide what you will do going forth.”
