Martins Vincent Otse, better known as Verydarkman and the self-styled president of Ratels, has shared a new perspective on the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, popularly called Mohbad.
This comes shortly after Naira Marley released a video addressing the controversies linking him to Mohbad’s struggles. In the clip, Marley claimed that part of Mohbad’s royalties was paid into his mother-in-law’s bank account, while some other funds were sent to his mother.
Responding to the statement, Verydarkman alleged that Mohbad had been “locked,” adding that those behind the act had “thrown away the keys.” Although he did not go into detail, many interpreted his remarks as pointing fingers at specific individuals.
His comments stirred mixed reactions online. A number of Mohbad’s fans and supporters of the TikToker agreed with his stance, questioning why the late artiste’s money was being channeled through his mother-in-law’s account and raising doubts about his widow, Wunmi. Some went as far as suggesting that she may know more than she has revealed about Mohbad’s death.
On the other hand, some critics accused Verydarkman of trying to shift the narrative and possibly frame Wunmi. They argued that he should refrain from interfering and allow due process to take its course.
This is not the first time the social media commentator has dragged Wunmi into the conversation. Weeks earlier, he alleged that she might have been pregnant for another man and passed the child off as Mohbad’s. He backed his claims by sharing screenshots from a private WhatsApp group reportedly created by Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo.
Meanwhile, in an audio recording of Mohbad’s conversation with Naira Marley’s manager, Gabby, when asked about payments to his mother-in-law’s account, the singer did not address that part but acknowledged the money deposited into his mother’s account.
