Nollywood actress and producer Blessing Obasi-Nze has candidly reflected on the difficult beginnings of her acting career, revealing how criticism and rejection nearly derailed her passion.
Speaking in a recent interview with Punch, the 43-year-old shared how a director she once looked up to told her she wasn’t “fit for the screen” due to her looks.
“I even remember when a popular director I deeply respected once told me I was too ugly to be in front of the camera. But look at me now.”
“It was a moment of deep gratitude, like everything was finally starting to make sense,” she said, recalling the turning point in her career.
Blessing didn’t rise overnight. Long before she was known for her role in “Momiwa” or celebrated as the wife of actor Stan Nze, she was the young girl whose mum once dragged to a barbershop to cut her hair after an audition prep gone wrong. She recalled:
“Some friends told me to blow out my hair for an audition. When my mum saw it, she was angry and made me cut it off completely. She told me to stop acting and focus on school.”
In other news, Popular Nigerian influencer Eni Adeoluwa, widely known as Enioluwa, has expressed admiration for Pastor Bolaji Idowu and the unique way he connects with everyday life through his teachings.
In a recent post on his Twitter page, Enioluwa shared how much he enjoys listening to the clergyman, noting that his messages consistently resonate with real-life situations.
But beyond Pastor Bolaji’s sermons, Enioluwa shared his genuine love for the entire church experience not tied to any particular denomination. He spoke about the warmth, hope, and sense of family that the church environment brings.
“I genuinely enjoy Pastor Bolaji Idowu’s teachings – they’re always so relatable to everyday life.
More than that, I just love Church. Not even one church in particular, but the people, and the atmosphere, are a beautiful reminder of warmth, hope, family, and joy, all in one place. The kind of good things money can’t buy, all gathered together in one space”.
His heartfelt words have resonated with many of his followers, sparking positive reactions about the comforting role church plays in people’s lives.
