The Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled October 10 to rule on a motion seeking to halt the ongoing trial of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Kanu, through his legal team led by former AGF Kanu Agabi (SAN), urged the court to discharge him from the seven-count terrorism charge, arguing that the prosecution failed to provide credible evidence or witnesses directly linking him to any crime.
Agabi maintained that the DSS operatives who testified only obtained statements and no investigation reports or victims were presented. He also argued that Kanu’s broadcasts were misinterpreted and that his extended solitary confinement breached international law.
However, FG’s lawyer, Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), opposed the motion, insisting Kanu admitted to leading a proscribed group and promoting violence in his broadcasts, which he said resulted in the deaths of over 170 security personnel.
Justice James Omotosho adjourned the matter for ruling after hearing arguments from both sides.
