Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has been removed from her position as Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and NGOs.
The announcement was made by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who named Senator Aniekan Bassey, representing Akwa Ibom North East, as her replacement.
This marks the second time Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has been stripped of a leadership role in 2025. She was initially removed as Chair of the Senate Committee on Local Content in February and reassigned to lead the Diaspora and NGOs Committee.
According to Vanguard, the Kogi Central senator will return to the National Assembly following her suspension but will no longer serve in any committee leadership position.
During Thursday’s plenary on July 10, 2025, no official explanation was given by Senator Akpabio regarding her replacement. The committee, which had remained inactive since Natasha’s suspension, will now be overseen by Senator Bassey.
