Thai singer Ruangsak Loychusak, now 47, has shared a chilling connection between his own plane crash survival in 1998 and the recent Air India tragedy that left 241 dead. Both he and the sole Air India survivor, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, were seated in 11A during their respective disasters.
Ruangsak was aboard Thai Airways Flight TG261, flying from Bangkok to Surat Thani, when the plane crashed into a swamp during a failed landing attempt. Of the 132 passengers and 14 crew members on board, 101 people lost their lives, and dozens were injured.
“I Got Goosebumps” – Survivor Reacts to Air India Crash
Speaking on June 12, 2025, a day after the Air India crash in Ahmedabad, Ruangsak expressed his shock upon learning that the only person to make it out alive, British national Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, had been sitting in the same seat number, 11A.
“The lone survivor of the plane crash in India was sitting in the same seat number as me, 11A. I had goosebumps when I saw the news,” Ruangsak said.
“I want to offer my heartfelt condolences to everyone who lost loved ones in this tragic event.”
Although the artist no longer has his original boarding pass, he mentioned that news reports from 1998 had recorded his seat number, confirming the eerie coincidence.
A “Second Life” Since the Tragedy
Recalling his own brush with death, Ruangsak revealed how surviving the crash deeply affected him for years.
“I lived a second life after the crash. For ten years, I had a hard time flying. My breathing would become difficult even when the air was fine,” he shared.
“I didn’t talk much on flights and always stared out of the window. I wouldn’t let anyone close it, it made me feel unsafe. When I saw dark clouds or rain, I felt like I was reliving that nightmare.”
He added that the experience haunted him physically and emotionally for a long time:
“The sound of the crash, the smell of burning, even the taste of the swamp water — I remember it all. I carried it with me in silence for years.”
The recent Air India plane crash, involving a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, has drawn international attention, not just for its scale, but for the lone survivor whose story is now strangely linked to another tragedy nearly three decades ago.
