- Florence Ajimobi has declared that the APC is ready for a tough battle against Governor Seyi Makinde’s PDP in the 2027 Oyo governorship election, claiming federal backing and strong financial support for the contest.

Florence Ajimobi, the widow of former Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is preparing for a fierce political battle ahead of the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.
Speaking during a recent political gathering, Ajimobi stated that the APC is determined to reclaim Oyo State from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Governor Seyi Makinde. She described the coming election as a “war,” stressing that her party is fully mobilised and ready for a head-on contest.
According to her, the APC enjoys strong federal backing and has the financial capacity to challenge the PDP’s dominance in the state. She expressed confidence that these advantages would play a significant role in the party’s strategy as preparations for the 2027 polls intensify.
Ajimobi accused the PDP-led government of underperforming and argued that Oyo State deserves better leadership. She urged APC members and supporters to remain united, focused, and committed to reclaiming power in the next election cycle.
Her comments have since sparked political reactions, with many interpreting the statement as an early signal of heightened political tension ahead of the 2027 governorship race in Oyo State.
